Common questions

What cable sizes does this tool recommend?

We use Nigerian market standard cables based on system size: 6–16mm² DC cable (panels to controller), 4–10mm² AC cable (inverter to loads), and 16–35mm² battery link cable. These are based on voltage drop calculations for typical 30-meter runs.

Why different fuse sizes for different systems?

Fuse ratings must match the maximum fault current between the battery and inverter. Larger systems (5kVA) need 150A ANL fuses; smaller systems (1.5kVA) need 60A. Using the wrong size puts your entire system at risk of fire.

What is SPD (Surge Protection Device) and why do I need it?

SPD protects your inverter from lightning surges and PHCN grid spikes. During harmattan (dry season), Nigeria sees frequent lightning. A 40kA SPD breaker costs ₦8–15k but saves a ₦500k+ inverter from destruction. Essential for NEPA-connected systems.

Can I use this diagram to order from an electrician?

Absolutely. Print or download the diagram and share it with your electrician. We recommend getting quotes from 2 other electricians too — show them all three diagrams and ask why any specs differ. This prevents cost-cutting on safety components.
